Position Summary

The Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University (GSU) seeks an individual with audio experience, customer service skills, theater knowledge, and ideally some experience in stage management to serve as the Assistant Technical Director. The Assistant Technical Director will assist the Auditorium Technical Director in the management and operational support of GSU’s nationally recognized 1,171 seat entertainment venue. The Assistant Technical Director is responsible for all technical functions, provides direction and supervision for technical employees and contractors, and manages all technical aspects of production in the absence of the Auditorium Technical Director. The Technical Director’s management accountabilities for technical employees and contractors include sound engineering, orientation, skill training, facility maintenance, stage direction, theatrical lighting, video engineering, rigging, and public safety. The expected start date for this position is September 18, 2017.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree or a minimum of two (2) years experience in one or more of the following: sound engineering, stagecraft, stage management, industry/labor relations, counter-weight fly systems, rigging, knot tying, theatrical lighting design, electronics, electrical power distribution.

Preferred Qualifications

Entertainment Technician Certification Program (ETCP) category such as Rigger – Theater, Entertainment Electrician.
